2005 Flood - "Alpenflut"

Long lasting convective rainfall caused saturation of the soil north of the Alps. A Vb weather situation with torrential rainfall on the 22nd and 23rd of August resulted in flash floods in the river network on the northern edge of the Alps. Most damages occured in Switzerland (about 1 billion CHF). In Germany, the Iller and Isar catchments were most heavily affected.
