Constituent meeting of the NaDiNe storm and storm surges experts group

On April 20, 2006, the constituent meeting of the NaDiNe expert group working in the field of storms and storm surges took place at the at the GKSS Research Center in Geesthacht. Participants were scientists from the GKSS Research Center and the German Aerospace Center (DLR).

In the meeting, approaches and procedures to allow the provision of crisis relevant information and to support crisis managment during ongoing storm and storm tide events were developed. During the meeting it became apparent how to benefit from the expertise of the group members and their scientific colleagues and how to use it in order to provide information and data products. Furthermore, the first version of a task schedule for the response to future, catastrophic storm or storm tide events was developed.

After the expert teams covering the domains of floods, earthquakes, tsunamis, and oil spills had met for their constituent meetings during the last months, with this fifth team, the row of scientific groups in the NaDiNe project now is complete for the time being.
