On September 30, 2009, an earthquake of magnitude 7.9 occurred offshore Sumatra, Indonesia, and affected the city of Padang severely. On February 22, 2006, the first Meeting of the NaDiNe tsunami experts group took place at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Oberpfaffenhofen.
